Firearm law is layered: federal rules from the ATF, a state code that sets carry, purchase, and transport rules, and city or county ordinances that can be stricter than either. This site points you at the primary source for each layer rather than a secondhand summary, because statutes change between legislative sessions and court rulings shift how they are enforced.
